Aubrieta x Whitewell Gem (Purple Gem) is a classic variety that was originally found in an old Shropshire England Garden in the first decade of the last century. It deserves more attention for its early bloom time and remarkably vigorous habit and the fact that it remains in bloom for many weeks, it freely produces large flowers of an intense glowing red-purple color.

A Northern Sunset Perennial, it prefers average, well-drained soil in full sun.
