Hibiscus moscheutos is a 3-8 ft., water-loving shrubby perennial with numerous sturdy stems arising from a single crown. It will grow in full sun or partial shade and is salt tolerant. It’s flowers from July through August with 4-5 in. white or pink flowers. The flowers last only for one day, but they appear consistently until the end of the season. Blooms provide nectar to hummingbirds and a variety of insects.  Plants host caterpillars of gray hairstreak, painted lady butterflies, skippers and several moths.
