LATHYRUS latifolius Red Pearl (Red Pearl Sweet Pea) Lathyrus latifolius ‘Red Pearl’ is an old-fashioned garden favorite. It is a fast-growing, perennial vine with fuschia-pink flowers throughout the summer and makes a good groundcover for a large space if left to crawl. It can be used to cover posts, trellises, and chain-link fences with support. Try it in containers, and it looks amazing with Delphinium ‘Blue Butterfly’, Rudbeckia hirta and Lilium regale. A vigorous self-sower, it needs regular deadheading to keep it from distributing seed.

Also known as Perennial Sweet Pea.

A Northern Sunset perennial, it prefers rich, well-drained soil in full sun to part sun.
