The Echinacea SOMBRERO® Series of coneflowers includes compact, freely branched, early blooming selections with a range of colors including red, coral, pink, orange, yellow and white.  The Sombrero® series has been developed by Jianping Ren of the Ball Horticultural Company (West Chicago, Illinois) who is a prominent plant breeder.  The heavy flowering and strong stems of this series is impressive. The mature height of around 20″ or so makes them easy to incorporate into gardens and containers. Look for them at your local garden centers. Tres Amigos Coneflower PP30750 ‘Tres Amigos’ is a compact, upright, hybrid selection of coneflower that will reach up to 2′ tall with a similar spread. The lightly fragrant blooms emerge coral pink in color but mature to a bright rose-pink and fade to magenta. The flowering period starts in early summer and continues through mid-summer. The blooms are attractive to butterflies.
