Calico Beardtongue

Penstemon calycosus is an herbaceous perennial deserving of greater use in the garden because of its cultural adaptability. Calico Beardtongue tolerates a variety of conditions from filtered shade to full sun and well-drained, moist to dry soils. The snapdragon-like flowers ranges in color from light violet to purple. Plants can grow 1-3’ tall and roughly 2’ wide. The foliage is lance shaped, semi–glossy, medium green, and has finely saw-toothed edges.

From the Native, Naturally!™ collection, it prefers rich, moist to well-drained soil in full sun to part shade and blooms in June-July.
