Perennial Foxglove

Digitalis lutea is a familiar yellow foxglove and a favorite for cottage gardens and perennial borders. A refined, shorter species, Digitalis lutea has rough blue-green foliage and daintily nodding lemon-yellow blossoms. The flowers are borne on sturdy stems but may need some staking to prevent summer winds from breaking them. Removing spent flower spikes may promote repeat blooming. Use this upright plant, which attracts hummingbirds, as an accent in the perennial border. Caution: leaves are poisonous.

A Northern Sunset Perennial. It prefers rich, moist to well-drained soil in part shade to part sun.
