Carex bicknellii is a Wisconsin Native grass which is also found throughout the Midwest. It has a creeping, tufted habit, and narrow foliage. In June and July triangular leafy stems rise above the foliage, which bear scaly green oval flower clusters the mature to coppery brown seed heads. Carex bicknellii is an upland sedge and one of the few that will grow in prairie habitats. They thrive in sunny sites with medium to dry soil and will do well in a typical garden setting.
A Native, Naturally! Grass, it prefers full sun to part shade in average, moist to well-drained soil.
